Emily + Aaron

3.18.17 Aaron

Emily and Aaron have been good friends of mine almost since the genesis of their relationship. There's so much I could say about these two, but I'll do my best to keep this post as succinct as possible! When Emily got back from studying abroad, she and Aaron met at a club in Springfield. They hit it off immediately, needless to say. A few Marine Balls later, and here we were on their wedding day!

Getting Ready

Aaron is one of those easy-going guys who looks great in a suit (and a uniform). He and his groomsmen got ready at his and Emily's home in Kansas City, MO. (For the record, I'm in love with the mid-century modern interior design of their home!)

Emily

Emily is the kind of person everyone wants to be around. Her magnetic personality draw people from vastly different circles together. I feel like every time I see her she introduces me to a different friend of hers. And it probably goes without saying, but she looked stunning in her dress!

First Look

First Look

Their first look took place at the WWI Memorial overlooking Downtown Kansas City. The pristine crystal blue sky provided by that beautiful March day was the perfect complement to the blush tones in Emily's bouquet as well as the bride's maids' dresses. The striking colors and architecture of the memorial was a unique backdrop for their portraits.

By the way, this is how cool these two are: Aaron brewed his own beers for the reception and Emily designed labels for them! SO CUTE! Their guests had the option of choosing between Choate-Meal Stout (a play on their last name), Mr. and Mrs. Sarsaparilla, and Wedding Wit!

Ceremony

Ceremony

Emily, to say the least, is a social butterfly, and the great thing about her is she takes everyone else along for the ride. The guests at Emily's and Aaron's wedding were wildly diverse. The one thing they all had in common was that they love these two. It's impossible not to love two people who are so kind, accepting, and inclusive.

Details

Details

Emily and Aaron are insatiably trendy, and that carried over into the details of their reception. The ivory, blushes, greens and metallics all complemented each other perfectly. The sun coming in behind the sweetheart table created some phenomenal lighting conditions as the reception kicked off, which you'll be able to see in the film!

Reception

Reception

Emily's father started his speech off with the cutest story about a game they used to play when she was young. I'll let him tell it because he tells it so much better than I ever could, but I'll just say it involves the sticker from a banana. Also, I think he won. :)

Another thing her father spoke about during his toast was laughter, and how vital it is to a healthy marriage. I think he's right, and you can tell with Emily and Aaron how their ability to laugh together (and at each other) has created such a strong bond between them.

I love watching couples just look at each other. There's so much being said through their eyes in an instant that words will never get the chance to express. It's electrifying, lightning in a bottle and all that, and I feel like a real dork when I'm filming these moments with an ear-to-ear grin across my face!

My husband and I were absolutely thrilled with how our film came out - Joe captured every single moment from our day - from the big moments I had anticipated seeing to the small moments I likely would have forgotten about otherwise.
